A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Systems Developer to join our Systems Development team. This is a senior role within the team, reporting to the Systems Development Manager.

 

Job Description:

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced systems developer with strong database and programming expertise to work on complex, finance‑focused systems within an investment management environment.

 

As a Senior Systems Developer, you will provide development, database and systems support for new initiatives, special projects and existing infrastructure. You will also take lead responsibility for projects and act as a senior technical resource within the Development team.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Developing and supporting in‑house systems and automations using Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server T‑SQL, Access, Excel, PowerShell and batch files
  • Providing technical support for third‑party automation tools, including Xceptor, UiPath and Power Automate
  • Taking lead responsibility for systems development projects, applying specialised skills and experience where required
  • Managing and delivering financial and technical systems development projects to improve internal efficiency and client functionality
  • Managing own projects and reporting progress to the Systems Development Manager and stakeholders across Fund Administration, Operations, Finance, Compliance and IT
  • Creating and optimising complex SQL Server and Oracle queries against large datasets
  • Developing and supporting scheduled datafeed interfaces using PowerShell, PL/SQL, XML, CSV and FTP
  • Providing DBA functions for Oracle and SQL Server servers, including tuning, backup and disaster recovery testing
  • Ensuring the smooth running and security of in‑house and third‑party systems and the protection of client and employee data
  • Working as a senior team member, supporting and developing new staff and trainees and contributing to improvements in systems and development processes

 

To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience working with financial systems, ideally within the investment or asset management sector, and will be comfortable operating as a senior technical specialist.

 

You will also have:

 

  • A relevant (IT related) degree e.g. Computer Science (CS) or combined CS and Business degree or at least a maths or science degree
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server and Oracle, including DBA responsibilities
  • Proven experience with PowerShell and automation technologies
  • Experience delivering systems development projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail and clear technical communication
  • A proactive, collaborative approach to improving systems and processes

 

 

Desirable skills include: FTP, PHP, IIS, HTML, Web security, Advanced Excel and Access VBA.
